IQ - was one of many British bands formed in the early 1980s (Marillion, Pendragon, Twelfth Night, Pallas and Solstice) that continued the progressive style abandoned by 1970s bands such as Genesis and Yes

IQ's musical poetics, especially at the beginning of their career, was somewhat reminiscent of Genesis from the era of Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett due to vocal and stage similarities. IQ leaders did their best to stay away from this "drawer". On the album Ever (1993), the band returned to their prog rock roots, with longer tracks featuring intricate arrangements and complex compositions.
